California Amazon Associates: You’re Re-Hired
Amazon.com sent an email to its former affiliate marketers in California this week announcing that they’re welcome back on the payroll. You can now re-enroll in the Amazon Associates Program, though the company notes in its FAQ that traffic referred during the shutdown will not count toward earnings. While the program’s resurrection might be good news for California small businesses that rely on affiliate revenue from their websites, similar taxation battles loom elsewhere in the country. Amazon cut ties with its California-based affiliates in June, but the company reached an agreement with the state last month that delays a new sales tax law but ensures the online retail giant will comply once the change takes effect.
