How Small Business Gets Started… and Keeps Running [INFOGRAPHIC]
The importance of mobile technology is clearly demonstrated in this infographic, and that is only going to grow. Mobile technology is a great equaliser for the small business person but it can have it's drawbacks i.e. the inability to switch off - as demonstrated by the high percentage of work that gets done at home.
Because of the the current technology business owners can now have more time managing their business and gives an extra time for his/her family and another good thing is they can actually have business while doing pleasure. Business owners especially those that are just startups must grab this opportunity to expand their business into greater heights.
Great graphic about the stats relating to new small business owners. I found it especially interesting to see the percent that are already using mobile tech to run their business.
Tammy, Great post and infographic. I agree with many others who've commented - better to used percentages instead of hours. No startup, big or small, conforms to a 40-hour workweek then calls it a day.Did you produce the infographic in-house at Intuit or by an outside provider? If the latter, do you have their contact info? We'd like to produce something similar but focused in finance that we specialize in. Thanks!
Thanks for the great post. But we have just started our own business and there is no way we could work only 39 hours a week. But I wish every small company owner the best of luck with what ever business they are starting..
What a great infographic. As an Internet marketing consultant, I recommend spending much more than 3 hours a week on web marketing, in full view of my bias. More time in web marketing could mean less time in outbound communications (i.e. cold calling.)The 67% who are in it for their passion are the ones with the best chance to succeed. Thanks for sharing!
Good question! The numbers represent hours spent on each individual task, so the total is not all-inclusive of the other tasks each small business owner performs in a typical work week.
Love hearing that you guys identify with the infographic! What additional things do you wonder about as a small business owner? We're always looking for new infographic ideas.
I run/own madgenius.com and I can attest that this is roughly accurate...might be better to put %'s then hours for time spent though, as it's definitely greater then what is listed. a
I work full time for salary at a job I love, but I also am running 2 start up passion projects that currently make no money (they're both under 6 months old). I can relate entirely to this infographic. I pretty much fall into the top percentage on each question. Without a doubt, this is how small business is advancing. Thanks for posting this! It makes me feel better.
your infographic is helpful for me, let's me know about all the people live which way to do business now.
Glad you found the infographic helpful, Dave--and thanks for the repost on E-LABZ! Be sure to follow us on Twitter for more updates: @Intuit.
