50 Essential iPad Apps for Small Business – 2012 Edition

The Apple iPad is a game-changing device for small-businesses owners who either want to manage operations more effectively on-the-go or use the device to expand and enhance their customer and client relationships.

Many iPhone and iPod Touch applications are also available for iPad, but why limit yourself to duplicating what’s already on your smartphone? The iPad’s screen real estate makes the device ideal for using richer apps, such as presentation managers and collaboration tools (for sharing contracts or conducting meetings, and so on).

This 2012 list of 50 Essential iPad Apps for Small Business updates our popular 2011 edition to feature many innovative and best-selling applications released during the past 12 months. (We also kept some favorites from the previous list.) Of course, technology changes quickly, so remember to read all the details about an application before you download it to ensure the current version meets your needs.

Do you know of a free app for accounting in small business?

Donna

Another app that people will find useful is Jot! It is the best whiteboard app in the app store. It has a Live Sharing feature where you can collaborate with other users in real time.

You have done some serious work here Heather, thank you for sharing your knowledge. There are many apps on here for me to explore that I have not used. I use TripIt on my frequent business trips for Dish, the app works like a charm. Additionally, I love using Yelp, as a personal after hour city guide a long days work deserves a nice Merlot. Dish Remote Access, is a constant source of relaxing entertainment, during long waits in the airport. I would not leave home without the apps that keep me on the right path to success. Thank you for so many detailed descriptions of apps to explore, this will be very helpful.

I'm curious as to how many of these apps actually have an iPad-specific version or are these just the successful ones from the iPhone and can be used on the iPad.  I know pinterest is phone-only and there are a lot of others like Mail Chimp, PayPal, Foursquare, Wells Fargo, Ally that only have a phone version.  It really looks like crap when used on the iPad and not very accommodating.
