- GoPayment empowers small businesses to grow beyond their brick and mortar locations by accepting payments on the go. To increase awareness about the ease and mobility of accepting payments, Intuit enlisted three small businesses to take their businesses mobile with show-stopping popup events across the US. Events included a barber shop at Austin’s SXSW, a pet grooming salon in the middle of Manhattan, and a golf driving range right in downtown Seattle. These popup events were filmed and posted online at www.getbusinessgrowing.com, where the public could watch and share the videos to win $1,000.
- After driving awareness and buzz around GoPayment, small business owners were encouraged to submit their own creative videos explaining how they would use GoPayment to take their business somewhere new. The entrants engaged their customers and support networks to vote for their video to win $10,000.
Get Business Growing aimed to drive online word of mouth in order to increase awareness of and engagement with GoPayment, and to inspire small business owners to grow their business by getting creative and taking their operations somewhere new.
Motivated by the success of the popup events, 42 participants submitted videos and spent an average of 5:30 minutes on the site (2.5x the average of similar campaigns). These videos generated 451.8k video views and over 15.5k video shares in three weeks.
During this campaign, Intuit saw a 500% increase in social impressions on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, 300%-400% increase in online mentions, 1,000%-1,200% increase in comments, likes and shares, and a 40-70% increase in active user base. The campaign had over 779.8 million impressions and got picked up by 403 outlets including Yahoo! Finance, USA Today, NY Times, and CNNMoney.com.
Two $10,000 prizes were awarded to the small business owners with the most popular popup ideas so that they could continue to grow their businesses.
