Nothing can put the brakes on a freight transportation company’s growth like a weak economy. Needless to say, it’s been a rough couple of years for the logistics industry. But the important work of hauling freight continues for countless businesses large and small across the U.S. And fortunately for one of them, the most exciting “delivery” of the year is about to take place.
Founded in Los Angeles, California, FESCO has become a comprehensive international logistics enterprise specializing in the shipment operation between America and China, freight forwarding, container drayage, warehousing, distribution, and packaging.
“This is a small logistics business,” says FESCO’s Mary Liu. “My husband started the business in 2007. Before he worked for somebody else and then later he decided to go into business for himself.”
“I joined him in 2009,” she adds. “Little by little we have been able to expand our business. Right now we have an office in Chino. We have four trucks and four drivers.”
According to Liu, who is from China but has resided in the U.S. since 2000, FESCO has been able to survive the ups and downs of the logistics industry due to the quality service provided to their customers in China and America. The owners even state on their website that by speaking both English and Chinese, this smooth and friendly communication creates a comfortable working environment that “reduces risk of operation errors” through prompt and accurate replies.
With a $5,000 grant from Intuit in tow, Mary Liu says that FESCO will continue to invest in the best resources available for the company.
“We want to buy newer trucks,” she admits. “We bought one this year already and we’re planning to buy another one by the end of the year.”
