Central Point, Oregon and Anthony, NM Are the July City Winners!

Fans love businesses in Central Point, Oregon and Anthony, New Mexico!

Central Point and Anthony are our two July city winners for Intuit’s Love A Local Business City Challenge, after fans voted for a total of 800 businesses in these two communities on LoveALocalBusiness.com.

Located near the center of the Rogue River Valley, Central Point hosts several fairs and festivals throughout the year. Two local businesses in Central Point are each receiving a $5,000 grant.  Although hundreds of local fans voted for their favorite businesses, only two businesses nominated themselves, which is a requirement to win.  Intuit will donate the unclaimed grants to the community — $5,000 to a local non-profit organization and $11,000 to the Chamber of Commerce.

Down to Earth Landscaping is our first winner. Mark and Meagan Miller started the company five years ago after moving to the area, and they say it’s been quite a challenge. Their business provides maintenance and installation of all landscaping equipment, including water features and lighting.

Kustom Kreations Home FX is a relatively new business. It provides an affordable alternative to concrete resurfacing, creating custom designs for floors and countertops.

The charity that will be receiving a $5,000 donation is Dogs for the Deaf. It received 123 votes from fans on Love A Local Business and is the world’s oldest and largest hearing dog facility. Clearly, their local community loves this charity a lot!

Anthony, New Mexico is a rural community located near the state border, between Las Cruces, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. As a result, its central location helps businesses serve a larger community. One organization is receiving a $5,000 grant, while Intuit will be donating the remaining grant money to the Chamber of Commerce to support its local businesses.

Women’s Intercultural Center is our winner from Anthony. The organization helps women in the region achieve economic self-sufficiency by providing alternative education and training for them. Executive Director Maria Carter plans to use the grant to help develop more technology education to improve the center’s services. “I’m incredibly excited… it’s fantastic!” she says.

With just two more Love A Local Business City Challenges to go, your community can be still featured in our next Winner’s Announcement. Show the businesses in your city you support them by voting and telling them about LoveaLocalBusiness.com.
